History of Easter Eggs

By Isis K. Nouvelle

Easter is a traditional Christian celebration of the time when Jesus Christ was crucified on Good Friday, only to return to life three days later on Sunday. Easter ends the period of Lent that began on Ash Wednesday. Lent is meant to be a period of atonement, to allow churchgoers the chance to prepare for the church's most important festival of the year.

Eggs are by far the most identifiable sign of Easter and also a main Easter gift. The egg is intended to symbolize new life. Since days gone by, eggs have been embellished and dyed with beautiful or bright colors. Eggs are also used in games for this special occasion.

We often give chocolate bunnies and eggs to our friends and family as gifts for Easter. Easter is an annual holiday that is largely based around eggs of all kinds, and it has become traditional for people to give each other gifts to spread the joy on this day. These gifts are most commonly various types of sweets that are shaped like eggs.

Your child would most likely love to get a soft toy bunny for Easter that he or she can curl into bed with for their sleeping buddy. You could even give a bunny to the grown ups you know. What a pleasant way to tell someone 'Happy Easter' as well as telling them that they are loved.

Plants can also be used in similar ways. For instance, you may want to give a spring flower in a flowerpot instead of cut flowers. Hyacinths, crocuses, tulips, and certain grasses with fake chickens may make good gifts. Plants generally improve a house's appearance by giving it a more natural look.

The Easter lily is a very popular Easter flower thanks to it's graceful form and tantalizing scent. When selecting an Easter lily, look for medium sized, compact plants with good proportions (not unusually short or tall), which look pleasant when viewed from any angle, perfect for a centerpiece. These flowers may often be found in stores, or just as easily delivered in a box with a personal message and information on care and flower arrangement, beautiful and on time for Easter.

Yet another ideal gift for children or adults may be doorstops, which can be in rooster design. It looks very nice, serves every home and will remind you of springtime no matter what season of the year it is. You have the option of giving decorative items as easter gifts. There is a vast selection of Easter decorations on the market. For example a cute seasonal door wreath to warmly welcome your visitors over the easter holiday. Each one is personally-crafted with fresh foliage, crisp herbs and gentile moss and decorated with easter nests they are sure to please the eye.
